Signing up for a course

You can browse our available courses here

Before joining a course, ask yourself the following questions to make sure it’s a good fit:

  • Is the course running in my region? e.g. Manchester

  • Do I meet the eligibility criteria? Criteria are included on Course Information pages on the Learning Hub

  • Am I available at the time the course is running?

  • Do I have the right technology to take part? You’ll need to have access to reliable internet.

If you’d like help finding a course or want to talk to us about the support we can give you, get in contact with us to discuss your options.

Before you confirm your interest in a course, we’ll ask you to watch an information video. These videos give you a chance to learn more about a course so you can make an informed decision on whether it’s a good match for you.

Follow these steps to find and watch the information session for your course.

  1. Find a course you’re interested in

  2. Sign up for a Prince’s trust account

  3. Log in to view the course information page

  4. Watch the information video

You must watch the full video before you can confirm your interest in a course and move onto the next step in your journey.

Once you’ve watched an information video, you’ll also get the opportunity to attend a live information session. This is a good chance to ask us questions on anything you’re unsure about and meet the Prince’s Trust team that’ll be running the course.

Live information sessions are hosted on Microsoft Teams. We’ll send you an email the day before the session with instructions on how to join.

Once you’ve confirmed your interest in one of our courses, we’ll ask you to complete a form to share some details with us.

We’ll ask you about the following:

  • Your current employment situation

  • Your educational background

  • Your health and personal support needs

  • Your current circumstances

  • How you found us and emergency contact details

The form takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Why do we ask for this information?

We ask for this information to help us understand if the course is a good match for you. It also helps us to make sure we can give you the right support to achieve your goals and outcomes.

We also use some information for reporting that helps us to improve our programmes and get funding (which means we can keep the course free for young people) - this is always totally anonymous.

When you’re accepted onto a course, we’ll ask you to complete a profile form.

We’ll include a link to the profile form in the email we send to you if you’re accepted onto the course.

The form can be completed in a browser on your desktop or mobile device.

You must complete the form before your course starts.

If you need some help completing the form, or would like to complete this over the phone, you can get in touch with your Prince’s Trust Executive.

Why do we ask for this information?

Completing the profile form helps make sure we can give you the right support to achieve your goals and outcomes.

We also use some information for reporting that helps us to improve our programmes and get funding (which means we can keep the course free for young people) - this is always totally anonymous.

If you’re accepted onto one of our courses, we’ll also ask you to confirm your age. We need to make sure your age meets our course criteria before we can accept you onto the course.

We’ll ask you to share 2 things:

  1. A photo of your ID. You may use one of the following documents:

    1. Passport

    2. Driving licence

    3. Birth certificate

    4. Any other government approved ID with your date of birth on it

  2. A photo of yourself holding the same document where you can clearly see your face and the ID document.

You can confirm your age by replying to your course acceptance email with the photos attached.

If you don’t have a valid ID document or you have any questions about providing a photo of your ID, you can get in touch with your Prince’s Trust Executive.

We promise to keep your information safe. You can read our Privacy Policy to find out more about how The Prince’s Trust protects your personal information.

Your safety and the safety of others is our number one priority.

We ask you, and all other young people, to take the time to read and understand our Start Safe guidelines before your course begins.

These guidelines look at what you can do to support a safe and positive experience for all. They also explain what you can expect from us, so you can let us know if any of our staff, young people or volunteers are behaving in a way that doesn’t feel right.

Making the most of your course

Your Executive is your main contact when you’re learning with The Prince’s Trust.

You will be matched with an Exec when you’re accepted onto the course. They’ll send you an email with their contact details.

If you need additional support or have a question while you’re on a course, you can get in touch with your Executive via email or text, or Microsoft Teams chat.

If you want to arrange a video call with your Executive, include details in your message about:

  • why you’d like to meet

  • your availability

Your Executive should get back to you to confirm your meeting. They’ll send you a calendar invite which you can access in your Teams calendar.

When you’re accepted onto your course, we’ll email you a link to your course resources. This page includes information on:

  • Accessing your Teams Calendar

  • Reading our Start Safe guidelines

  • Resources to support your learning

You’ll need to return to this page at different times during your course. We suggest saving this page in your ‘favourites’ so that you can easily find it again.

If you can’t find this link, log into your Prince’s Trust Learning Hub account and it’ll be the first thing you see – remember, you can only access this page once you’ve been accepted onto a course.

Once you’ve been accepted onto a course, email will be the main way we contact you with information and updates. This may include workshop and session reminders, as well as important information on tasks or actions you need to complete.

Make sure you check your inbox regularly so you don’t miss anything. Check your spam/junk folder if you think you’re missing an email.
